The countdown to the America’s Cup is on, with the Prada Cup Challenger series due to finish next week.

All the racing yachts taking part are classed as ‘used equipment’ when it comes to New Zealand’s strict biosecurity standards. This means that Biosecurity New Zealand officers have inspected imported race yachts and sailing gear in the lead-up to the competition, undertaking careful inspections for any threats.

The yacht in the photo was so large the officer needed a ladder to do the inspection. Also, the pontoon was directed for steam cleaning after the inspection revealed plant material contamination.
