BMSB campaign hitting hard
21 January 2021

This high-risk season’s Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) awareness campaign is off to a great start, with results so far showing people are seeing our promotional material about the unwanted bug, and then hunting out more information.

The campaign started when the high-risk season began in September 2020, and the latest round-up of results shows that as of mid-December:

· over 4.6 million impressions (the number of times one of our BMSB ads played on a screen) on digital channels like social media and YouTube ads,

· over 19,000 visits to the BMSB page on the Biosecurity New Zealand website, with almost all of them coming directly from the digital ads,

· more than 69,000 views of our various BMSB videos.

KVH is involved in several initiatives to improve awareness and readiness for BMSB, including this comprehensive public education programme alongside Biosecurity New Zealand and other horticultural groups known as the BMSB Council. Read more about this season’s campaign, aiming to lift public awareness around the damaging impacts of BMSB and increase the likelihood of early detection through general surveillance, in our September Bulletin here.
