Compliance at the border looking up
4 October 2018

KVH welcomes new data from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) showing 98.7% of air travellers were free of risk goods after going through biosecurity checks at the border.

The independently verified survey of almost 12,000 people was recently completed and is just above the target of 98.5%, which gives KVH confidence in the work being done by MPI frontline staff to appropriately manage risk.

The survey findings showed strong results for the Green Lane exit, which allows low-risk passengers to avoid x-ray screening of their baggage after assessment by an officer. The compliance rate for Green Lane across the four major airports in the survey was 99.1%, the same as last year.

Very importantly, the results also showed that passenger compliance for goods associated with fruit fly and foot-and-mouth disease is almost 100% (99.9%).

KVH works closely with MPI to advocate for strong biosecurity systems and processes, and we will continue to do so, but these figures are pleasing and support our continued confidence in the work MPI is doing at the border.
