KiwiNet network meets
24 August 2017

The latest gathering of KiwiNet members was held on Monday in Mount Maunganui.

As well as the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) crisis simulation mentioned earlier in the Bulletin, attendees took part in biosecurity discussions and presentations on the implications of myrtle rust to the kiwifruit industry; forestry biosecurity surveillance and recent incursions; the importance of on-orchard biosecurity protocols; and how KiwiNet can help kiwifruit growers and industry be a part of the Biosecurity 2025 initative to have a biosecurity team of 4.7 million people.

Presentations from the KiwiNet meeting will be available to view on the KVH website over the next few days.

Established in December 2014, KiwiNet is the team of people selected from across the kiwifruit industry who champion biosecurity readiness and coordinate the deployment of kiwifruit industry resources into biosecurity responses. KiwiNet exists to reduce the impacts on our industry if/when we face our next major biosecurity incursion – read more about the network on the KVH website.
