Protocols & Movement Controls

Under the National Psa-V Pest Management Plan (NPMP) KVH Movement Controls have been established for all risk items (including plant material, rootstock, pollen and budwood) to reduce the spread of Psa-V and other pests and disesases. Movement controls differ across different regions and risk items depending on the nature and level of risk they pose.

Proposed new Pathway Management Plan

KVH is looking at a new regulation framework to better manage biosecurity risk to the kiwifruit industry. This is likely to be at no additional levy cost to growers from the current status. Instead of focusing on a single pest, like Psa, the proposed Plan focuses on protection against the full range of biosecurity threats to our industry and provides for a consistent and pragmatic approach to managing pathway risks such as young plants, international visitors, and high-risk second hand or imported equipment.

Read more about the proposed new Plan on the Biosecurity page of the website here.

National Psa-V Pest Management Plan

In 2013 KVH developed a National Psa-V Pest Management Plan (NPMP) to ensure the entire industry worked together to overcome the impacts of Psa-V into the future. The NPMP was approved by the Minister for Primary Industries, Nathan Guy and commenced on Friday 17 May 2013.

The Biosecurity (National Psa-V Pest Management Plan) Order 2013  is a legal document. Detailed information is available here, or you can read the KVH summary, which explains the objectives of the plan and how it works.

In July 2016, KVH completed an internal, non-statutory review of the NPMP.

Levy

A grower levy funds the NPMP. The rate for the levy for the 2021/22 year equates to a charge of 0.1 cents per tray. For the 2022/23 year the levy will reduce to zero per tray in-line with the introduction of the proposed new Pathway Management Plan. A copy of the Biosecurity (Psa-V - Kiwifruit Levy) Order 2013 is available here.
