KVH is working closely with packhouses in our combined industry response to Psa-V management.
KVH will not pay for testing of samples taken from orchards in the following regions:
In other regions (Kerikeri, Whangarei, North-West Auckland, Poverty Bay, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui/Horowhenua, South Island):
KVH will not pay for repeated testing when the results are ‘not detected’. Once a KPIN has had two ‘not detected’ results, KVH would not usually pay for further testing of that KPIN. However, if you believe there are good reasons, please contact KVH on 0800 665 825 to discuss before taking further samples. Further testing may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Once a KPIN has been confirmed Psa-V positive on any variety, KVH will not pay for any further testing on that KPIN. Growers wishing to test other varieties on the same KPIN must pay for further testing themselves.
All lab results are sent to KVH. On receipt of the results KVH will notify the appropriate packhouse or submitter. If the grower is associated with a kiwifruit packhouse, the packhouse will notify the grower of the results. Alternatively, the results could come direct from the laboratory.
If the result comes back ‘not detected’ growers should continue routine monitoring of their orchard and remain alert for any Psa-V symptoms.
If the result comes back positive for Psa-V, for next steps see KVH’s Psa positive website page at www.kvh.org.nz/psapositive.
