Organic growers

Organic growers face unique challenges when it comes to protecting their orchard from Psa-V. The ZESPRI organic Crop Protection Standard (CPS) is designed to meet the requirements of Biogro certification, some Psa protectant products cannot be used and others must be used carefully to integrate with the standard CPS.  The content within this section aims to address these issues by providing the most current information on allowed products, product testing and discussion of the key issues facing organic growers.

BioGro Psa Product Notifications
A full list of allowed and prohibited Psa product inputs can be found on the BioGro website. From the home page select the ‘Producer Resources’ section and then select ‘Notifications’ from the menu on the left of the page. This will provide a list of ‘Psa BioGro Notification’ updates.

The most recent:  Psa BioGro Notification No. 6 October 2012

Growers who are considering the future of their organic status are encouraged to contact Biogro New Zealand and the ZESPRI Grower liaison team to discuss their options. Orchardists can also contact BioGro to discuss dispensation for use products that are currently not on the BioGro allowed products list. Any off-label product use should also be approved by Zespri to ensure that market access is not compromised.
