Due to KVH identifying seemingly inconsistent Psa-V laboratory test results for orchards in Whangarei and Kerikeri from late October, along with a lack of progression of Psa-V symptoms on orchards in these areas, a review of laboratory Psa-V testing processes was initiated.

Minister Carter today (Wednesday 5 December 2012) announced that Psa had been declared an adverse event for the entire North Island. No declaration has been made for the South Island as Psa has not been detected there.

The Minister for Primary Industries declared the Psa-V vine disease affecting North Island kiwifruit growers as a medium-scale biosecurity event under the Government’s Primary Sector Recovery Policy on December 5, 2012.
